We have monthly open mic nights which are open and free to the public. Any local guitarist of any age or skill level can perform in our low-pressure, supportive concert nights. Families, friends, and curious passers by make up our audiences! Not only are our open mics a great night out, they are the perfect platform for local professionals, amateurs, and students to sharpen their performance skills in front of an appreciative audience.
Members at every contribution level are eligible to join our Community Ensemble and/or perform in our Member Recitals twice a year. Member recitals take place in a professional setting and are free and open to the public.
Perform
Regularly scheduled Open Mic Nights and the opportunity to join the FGF ensemble give guitarists a venue to perform with their instruments.
Record
Florida Guitar Foundation will be offering resources for local members to record and video themselves performing, an invaluable service to aspiring performing artists.
Convene
With events throughout the year, member’s meetings, and get-togethers, there is always an opportunity to meet-up with others over a guitar.
Service
Our Community Ensemble also performs locally free of charge for other organizations and events. Members are encouraged to perform for organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, etc.
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami is so happy to collaborate with the Florida Guitar Foundation to provide music performances to our patients in the chemotherapy infusion units. So many times patients come to receive chemotherapy and are overwhelmed with thoughts about their treatment and prognosis.
The simple act of listening to a classical guitar played next to them can provide a sense of peace and focus that allows them to relax. Having the Florida Guitar Foundation here every week is a blessing and we truly value their contribution to our patient experience.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT
All of our international artist concerts are now preceeded by local middle and high school student groups. Guitar ensembles from schools in the area now get a chance to be the “opening act” for some of the best players in the world! Not only do they get to present their hard work to the community, but they also receive free admission to the concert and the opportunity to perform in a professional cultural setting.
Additionally, our international artists are now interviewed by young journalists in training from local schools!
