The multifaceted Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, praised by The Baltimore Sun as “a formidable ensemble, both in terms of technical bravura and musical personality” presents music from its new album New Renaissance, including the engrossing suite “Music from the Time of Cervantes.” The stellar group also performs arrangements of classics by Ralph Towner, Pat Metheny and Chet Atkins from its Grammy-winning project Guitar Heroes, and premiere works by Atanas Ourkouzounov, Tilman Hoppstock and Dweezil Zappa.

Los Angeles Guitar Quartet—New Renaissance Tour

The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet features four extraordinary musicians who bring a new energy to the concert stage in programs ranging from Bluegrass to Bach, consistently playing to sold-out houses worldwide. LAGQ’s Guitar Heroes album (Telarc), winner of a 2005 Grammy, is a brilliant follow-up to their Grammy-nominated LAGQ-Latin.

LAGQ’s inventive, critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from contemporary and world-music realms break new ground.  Programs including Latin, African, Far East, Irish, Folk and American Classics transport listeners around the world.

LAGQ’s The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote collaboration with Firesign Theater veteran actor Philip Proctor delights audiences in words and music, and SHIKI: Seasons of Japan, written for LAGQ and guitar orchestra by Shingo Fujii, connects communities across the nation.

Spin (Telarc, 2006) continues LAGQ’s explorations of jazz and contemporary music. LAGQ: BRAZIL(Telarc, 2007), with vocalist Luciana Souza, was released to rave reviews.  Their newest Telarc recording of the Rodrigo Concierto Andaluz and Sergio Assad’s Interchange climbed to top spot on the Billboard charts.  A live DVD of The Ingenious Gentleman: Don Quixote was released on the Mel Bay label in spring 2012.
