(Program: 1st round – 6 minutes, Finals – 10 minutes)

Participation Fee: $90

Three players will be selected from the Youth Division to participate in the final round. In the case of the Open Division, 8 competitors will be chosen to play in a semifinal round. Of them, 3 finalists will be chosen to perform in the final round.
Competitors will be evaluated on their technique, musicianship, and overall presentation. Judges’ comments will not be made available to competitors. Competitors are encouraged to inquire for comments from the judges directly only after the competition has ended.
Choice of music is entirely at the discretion of the competitor. All music must be performed from memory. A competitor may perform the same or different music from round to round without penalty. It is expected that every competitor’s choice of music fits within the time allowed for each round. If a competitor exceeds the given time allotted, that competitor will be asked to stop but at no penalty to his/her evaluation. All judges’ decisions are final.

All master classes and competition events are free and open to the public. Tickets for the evening concerts can be purchased below.

Per U.S. IRS regulations, prizes awarded to non-U.S. citizens may be subject to tax withholding, dependent upon current tax treaty between the U.S. and the winner’s country of citizenship. U.S. citizens who are awarded prizes will not have tax withheld, and will receive an IRS Form 1099 from the Florida Guitar Foundation at the end of the year if the total of earnings are $600 or more.

Thursday, March 16, 2017

Youth Competition

5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Each competitor will play their choice of music for six (6) minutes.

Youth Finals

8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Each competitor will play ten (10) minutes of their choice of music to compete in the finals.

Friday, March 17, 2017

First Wave

11:30 am – 1:20 pm

Ten (10) Adult Competitors will be assigned to the first round of competition, and given Seven (7) minutes each to play their choice of pieces from memory.

Master Class: Judicaël Perroy

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Three players are invited to play for a Master Class with Judicaël Perroy as part of the activities surrounding the Florida Guitar Foundation’s First Guitar Competition. This event is free for attendees, players will be randomly picked from the competition entrants.

Second Wave

2:00 pm – 3:50 pm

Ten (10) Adult Competitors will be assigned to the second round of competition, and given seven (7) minutes each to play their choice of pieces from memory.

Third Wave

4:30 pm – 6:20 pm

Ten (10) Adult Competitors will be assigned to the third round of competition, and given seven (7) minutes each to play their choice of pieces from memory. Competition rounds are open and free to the viewing public.

Semifinals

11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Eight (8) competitors will move on from the initial rounds of competition to the semifinals. Each competitor will play their choice of music for ten (10) minutes.

Master Class: Łukasz Kuropaczewski

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Three players are invited to play for a Master Class with Łukasz Kuropaczewski as part of the activities surrounding the Florida Guitar Foundation’s First Guitar Competition. This event is free for attendees, players will be randomly picked from the competition entrants.

Finals

4:30 pm – 6:20 pm

Three (3) competitors will move on from the initial rounds of competition to the finals. Each competitor will play their choice of music for twenty (20) minutes.
